Spring & Fall Clean Up

The City of Spearfish offers free clean up days at the Restricted Use Site (RUS) during the year.  Fees are waived for both City and Lawrence County residents for all acceptable items.

Spring Clean Up Days! 

Spring Clean Up is held the third weekend in April. 

2024 - Friday, April 19th - Saturday, April 20th During this event, fees are waived for residential disposal of all acceptable items. 

Items accepted at the Restricted Use Site (RUS)

* Appliances & furniture
(Refrigerators & freezers-doors must be removed upon drop off) 
* Shingles
(Residential customers only)
*Metal & iron* Tires without rims (Accepted for a fee)
* Batteries* Water heaters
* Trees & branches* Wood & sheet rock
* Gas & diesel powered items
(Fluids must be drained)
* Appliances with Freon
(Accepted for a fee; doors must be removed upon drop off)

Items not accepted at the Restricted Use Site (RUS)

* Clothing* Plastic
* Household garbage* Treated wood
* Paint* Barrels
* Hazardous or toxic waste* Styrofoam
* Insulation

Curbside pickup will be available Thursday, April 18th for residents within City limits. Pickup is limited to 3 items and applies to items such as furniture, appliances without Freon, weed eaters and lawn mowers. Fluids must be removed from all items. Branches and yard waste will not be picked up. Items must be placed on the curb by 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 18th.

Curbside pickups must be scheduled in advance. Scheduling will begin April 1st. To schedule a pickup and provide item details, contact Public Works at 605-642-1333 or email Utility Services. The deadline for scheduling a pickup is Wednesday, April 17th at 12:00 p.m.
