Retail (on-sale) Liquor License (RL) – Required for any alcoholic beverages, including beer, wine and spirits, for customers to consume on the licensed premises. $1,500 - renews January 1 of each year.
Package (off-sale) Liquor License (PL) – Required for any alcoholic beverages sold by the package for customers to consume off the licensed premises. $500 – renews January 1 of each year.
Convention Center (on-sale) Liquor License (CL) – May be held by businesses such as hotels or motels with convention facilities serving alcoholic beverages. $1,500 – renews January 1 of each year.
Retail (on-sale) Liquor License – Restaurant (RR) – Restaurant may sell on-sale liquor in the bar and dining room of a restaurant. At least 60% of the gross revenue of the restaurant must come from the sale of food and nonalcoholic beverages. $1,500 – renews January 1 of each year.
Retail (on-off sale) Wine and Cider License (RW) – Required to sell wine and/or cider for consumption on or off the licensed premises. $500 – renews January 1 of each year.
Retail (on-off sale) Malt Beverage & SD Farm Wine License (RB) – Required to sell malt beverages or wine produced by a South Dakota farm winery for consumption on or off the licensed premises. $300 ($150 to City of Spearfish/$150 to the State of South Dakota) – renews July 1 of each year.
