[ARCHIVED] Donate blood and support emergency responders during Battle of the Badges!

Donate blood and support emergency responders during Battle of the Badges!

SPEARFISH, SD (July 8, 2020) – The annual Battle of the Badges blood drive takes place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, July 16 at the Spearfish Rec Center. The event provides a friendly competition for a good cause for the Spearfish Emergency Ambulance Service, Spearfish Fire Department, and Spearfish Police Department.

The Battle of the Badges allows donors to “choose” their favorite department to support, meaning that their donation would count toward the total number of pints for that department.

This is the second year of the blood drive, and organizers are hoping for even more blood donations this year. Last year, nearly 100 people donated blood during the Battle of the Badges, and the Spearfish Police Department took the title in 2019 for having the most donations given in their honor.

Organizers of the event said that the blood drive has received incredible community support, with local businesses donating food, drinks, and T-shirts for donors. They thanked all local sponsors, as well as donors who have already signed up for the blood drive.

Masks are required at the event, and donors will receive a free T-shirt and refreshments while supplies last.

Sign up to donate blood at the Battle of the Badges at www.bloodhero.com, using the code, battle, or reserve a spot at https://www.facebook.com/events/611880986125635/. Walk-ins are welcome and will be accommodated as space allows.

The Spearfish Rec Center is located at 122 Recreation Lane.
