Sergeant promotion

SPEARFISH, SD – Samantha Rosenau was promoted to the rank of sergeant at the Spearfish Police Department this week, with a promotion ceremony taking place during the Monday City Council meeting.

Police Chief Curt Jacobs described that Sgt. Rosenau started as a patrol officer with the Spearfish Police Department in 2015. After a brief move to North Dakota, she returned to the Spearfish Police Department in 2020.

“Sgt. Rosenau has a strong work ethic, is extremely professional, and is a leader,” Chief Jacobs said, congratulating her on her promotion. “I thank her for her service and look forward to seeing her continued success.”

Sgt. Rosenau’s husband, Brandon, pinned her new badge and sergeant chevrons on her uniform during the ceremony, after which Sgt. Rosenau received applause and congratulations from Mayor Dana Boke and the Spearfish City Council, family, friends, and colleagues present.
