SPEARFISH, SD – The Spearfish Fire Department handled precious cargo Wednesday, much to the delight of third-graders at Creekside Elementary School, during the annual Egg Drop.
The students created various contraptions to protect the eggs from cracking on their journey from the top of the Spearfish Fire Department’s ladder truck’s 85-foot ladder.
The students and teachers had a front-row seat to see each contraption as it dropped from the ladder, with cheers and excitement following each drop.
“We appreciate being a part of this event,”
Fire Chief Scott Deaver said. "It was a really fun experience for the students and teachers, as well as the firefighters, and it also provides an additional training opportunity for our volunteers to utilize the apparatus in a community setting."
