SPEARFISH – Residents with property near or next to Spearfish Creek are invited to attend a public meeting to review preliminary flood hazard maps for the Spearfish area which have recently been updated by FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
There are two public meetings scheduled: 5 p.m. Monday, February 13th and 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 14th, in Council Chambers on the second floor of Spearfish City Hall, 625 5th Street.
A policy of continuing updates to the Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM) and Flood Insurance Studies (FIS) resulted in an update and revision to the mapping along Spearfish Creek, and there are changes to the flood zones which may affect properties located along or near the creek within the City and other areas nearby.
Staff from the City and representatives from FEMA will provide a presentation about the preliminary maps and answer questions from residents.
