[ARCHIVED] Restricted Use Site waiving fees for storm-damage-type debris through July 3rd

Stop, under construction signs

SPEARFISH, SD – Following the severe weather Friday, City crews are continuing to assess damage around Spearfish and remind people to follow all signage indicating areas of damage to avoid on roadways, sidewalks, and other public infrastructure.

Crews have been out cleaning up and assessing areas that will require additional repair,” City Administrator Steve McFarland said. “Safety is our priority, so we thank the public in advance for avoiding these areas of damage until they are repaired.

There is a daily chance of thunderstorms this week; the public is encouraged to monitor weather alerts and check the City’s website and Facebook page for additional information regarding storm cleanup.

In addition, the Spearfish Restricted Use Site (RUS) will be waiving fees for storm-damage-type debris brought in by residents through Monday, July 3rd. The RUS is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Regular fees apply to appliances containing freon and tires without rims. Refrigerators and freezers must have the doors removed upon drop-off. For more detailed information, including items not accepted at the site, visit https://www.cityofspearfish.com/392/Spring-Fall-Clean-Up. The RUS is located north of Spearfish off of Highway 85 on Camp Comfort Road, which is 1.5 miles north of Interstate 90’s Exit 10.
